The best-selling vehicle in Larimer County. We service every F-150 generation from 2004 to current. 3.5 EcoBoost cam phaser jobs, 5.0 Coyote work, 2.7 EcoBoost service, 10R80 transmission. The work truck Northern Colorado runs hard.
If your vehicle is showing any of these, bring it in. Most are addressable; all deserve real diagnosis before parts are thrown at the problem.
If you have a 2011–2017 F-150 with the 3.5 EcoBoost and you’ve been hearing a metallic rattle for 1–3 seconds on cold start, that’s the cam phaser job. It’s not optional. Left alone, it eats the timing chain guides and you end up with a much bigger repair.
Our approach: OEM Ford updated phasers (the revised design from Ford addresses the original failure mode), new timing chain, new tensioners, new guides. While we’re in there, we replace the variable cam timing solenoids and any related wear items (sometimes the chain has stretched enough to throw codes). We use OEM Ford parts because aftermarket “equivalents” have failed for our customers in the past.
It’s a 1–2 day job depending on the year and what we find. We give a written quote after inspection. Fleet customers get priority scheduling.
Depending on year, engine state, and whether we’re doing chain only vs full top-end refresh, typical range is $2,800–$4,500 with OEM Ford updated phasers and chain components. The fix is significantly cheaper than the engine-failure scenario that follows ignoring it. We provide a written quote after inspection.
Generally robust if serviced. Ford recommends fluid change at 150,000 miles, but our experience is that 60,000–90,000 mile service significantly reduces 1-2 shift harshness and torque converter shudder issues — especially on trucks that tow. We use Mercon ULV fluid and OEM filter.
Yes — see our Power Stroke page for 6.0, 6.4, 6.7, and 7.3 PSD service. We’re a primary diesel shop for F-250, F-350, and F-450 owners across Northern Colorado.
We service routine work (tires, brakes, suspension, 12V system, alignment) on the Lightning. We don’t do high-voltage drivetrain work — that goes to Ford. Most Lightning service we see is the same as ICE F-150 service: tires, brakes, alignment.
