In short: Auto Trends services every modern Acura — TLX, RDX, MDX, ILX, RLX, Integra. Mechanically related to Honda but with luxury-trim specifics. We service the SH-AWD system, J-series V6, K-series turbo, 10-speed transmission, and the platform-specific work that benefits from real specialist time. OEM parts.
What we do

Honda mechanicals, premium service.

The Acura platform is mechanically related to Honda — the K20C in the Type S Integra and the RDX is the same engine architecture as the Civic Type R. The J-series V6 is shared with the Pilot. The 10-speed transmission is shared.

What’s Acura-specific is the SH-AWD (Super Handling All-Wheel Drive) system on Type S models and select MDX trims. It’s a torque-vectoring system with a fluid service interval — we have the right fluid and procedure.

For routine work, we use OEM Acura parts (which are the same Honda parts in Acura packaging) and Honda-spec fluids.

FAQ

Common questions.

Is Acura the same as Honda for service?

Mechanically, yes — same engines, same transmissions, same architectural philosophy. The luxury-trim differences (interior, electronics, suspension calibration, SH-AWD) require a tech who knows the Acura-specific bits, but the fundamental engineering is shared.

Can you service SH-AWD?

Yes. SH-AWD has a fluid service interval and the system can develop shudder if the fluid is neglected. We use the manufacturer-specified fluid and follow the proper procedure.

What about the 10-speed transmission?

The 10AT (in MDX, TLX, RDX) needs disciplined fluid service for shift quality. We service at 60,000-mile intervals (sooner if you tow or drive aggressively). We use Honda DW-1 ATF.

Are you cheaper than the Acura dealer?

Typically 25–35% below dealer pricing for the same work using OEM parts.

Do you service the Type S (NSX)?

The mechanical packaging on the modern NSX (2017–2022) is unique. We service routine maintenance — fluids, brakes, tires, alignment — but specialty engine or hybrid drivetrain work is case-by-case.
