TLX, RDX, MDX, ILX, RLX, Integra, NSX. K20C 2.0T, J35 V6, hybrid platforms. Mechanically related to Honda at higher trim and with platform-specific drivetrain like SH-AWD.
The Acura platform is mechanically related to Honda — the K20C in the Type S Integra and the RDX is the same engine architecture as the Civic Type R. The J-series V6 is shared with the Pilot. The 10-speed transmission is shared.
What’s Acura-specific is the SH-AWD (Super Handling All-Wheel Drive) system on Type S models and select MDX trims. It’s a torque-vectoring system with a fluid service interval — we have the right fluid and procedure.
For routine work, we use OEM Acura parts (which are the same Honda parts in Acura packaging) and Honda-spec fluids.
1st, 2nd gen. 2.4L, 2.0T, V6 Type S. SH-AWD on Type S. Routine and performance.
3rd gen. K20C 2.0T. SH-AWD service, transmission, suspension.
3rd, 4th gen. J37 V6, 3.5 V6 hybrid. SH-AWD, 10-speed transmission, air suspension on Type S.
Older platforms. K-series 4-cyl, J-series V6. Routine maintenance.
Mechanically Civic Si. K20C 2.0T. Manual and CVT options.
Case-by-case for either generation. Specialist parts and care.
If your vehicle is doing any of these, bring it in. None of them is guaranteed to be the part you might think — that’s why we diagnose first.
Mechanically, yes — same engines, same transmissions, same architectural philosophy. The luxury-trim differences (interior, electronics, suspension calibration, SH-AWD) require a tech who knows the Acura-specific bits, but the fundamental engineering is shared.
Yes. SH-AWD has a fluid service interval and the system can develop shudder if the fluid is neglected. We use the manufacturer-specified fluid and follow the proper procedure.
The 10AT (in MDX, TLX, RDX) needs disciplined fluid service for shift quality. We service at 60,000-mile intervals (sooner if you tow or drive aggressively). We use Honda DW-1 ATF.
Typically 25–35% below dealer pricing for the same work using OEM parts.
The mechanical packaging on the modern NSX (2017–2022) is unique. We service routine maintenance — fluids, brakes, tires, alignment — but specialty engine or hybrid drivetrain work is case-by-case.
