What we do

Reliability deserves real care.

People buy Japanese cars and trucks because they last. They keep them for 200,000+ miles because they’re worth keeping. Our job is to make sure that decision keeps paying off.

That means using OEM Toyota, Honda, and Subaru parts where they matter (timing components, gaskets, sensors, suspension) — not the bargain-bin substitutes that fail at 30,000 miles. It means knowing the platform-specific failure modes (EJ25 head gaskets, 1GR-FE timing chains, K-series VTC actuators) and addressing them right.

And it means being honest when the right answer is “this can wait” rather than “you need this today.”

Platform-specific issues
we see a lot.

Japanese cars are reliable, but they have characteristic failure modes. These are what we diagnose and fix most often.

FAQ

Common Japanese questions.

What’s the most common Subaru issue you see?

EJ25 head gaskets — both internal (combustion) and external (oil/coolant) failures. We see it most on 2006–2014 Outbacks, Foresters, and Imprezas. Symptoms include sweet exhaust smell, milky oil cap, slow coolant loss, or overheating. We do head gasket service with an updated multi-layer steel gasket and refurbish the head deck while we’re in there.

Do you do timing chain replacement on Toyota 4Runners and Tacomas?

Yes. The 4.0L 1GR-FE V6 in 2003–2009 4Runners, Tacomas, and FJ Cruisers has a documented timing chain tensioner issue that gets noisy with age. We replace the chain, tensioners, and guides with OEM Toyota parts. Typically a 1–2 day job.

Are you faster or cheaper than the Toyota / Honda / Subaru dealer?

Comparable on speed for routine work; usually 20–30% cheaper on parts and labor for repairs beyond warranty. We use OEM Toyota, Honda, and Subaru parts so warranty work and dealer-tool diagnostics aren’t compromised.

Do you service Lexus, Acura, and Infiniti?

Yes. Lexus is mechanically Toyota; Acura is mechanically Honda; Infiniti is mechanically Nissan. The platforms are similar enough that a Toyota tech is also a Lexus tech. We service all three lines including the higher-end V8s (Lexus IS-F, GS-F, LS460, LX570).

Do you work on Mazda?

Yes. We service Mazda3, Mazda6, CX-5, CX-9, Miata, and the older RX-8 (rotary work case-by-case). The Mazdaspeed turbo platforms (DISI) we know well too.
