Tacoma, Tundra, 4Runner, Camry, Corolla, Highlander, RAV4, Sequoia, Land Cruiser, Prius. 1GR-FE V6, 2GR-FE V6, 3UR-FE V8, 2AR-FE 4-cyl, hybrid drivetrain. The trucks Northern Colorado actually drives — and the cars families keep for 250,000 miles.
If your vehicle is showing any of these, bring it in. Most are addressable; all deserve real diagnosis before parts are thrown at the problem.
The reason a Toyota lasts 250,000 miles isn’t magic — it’s good engineering plus disciplined service. Skip the timing chain replacement on a 4Runner with rattle and you’ll burn through the chain guides. Ignore the frame rust on a Tacoma and you’ll lose the truck. Run a Prius on a tired 12V battery and the hybrid system will throw codes and shut down.
Our approach is preventive where it matters: we inspect for known platform failures every visit and report what we see. We use OEM Toyota parts for timing components, gaskets, and fluids — the aftermarket equivalents often look identical and fail in 30,000 miles.
For Tacoma frame inspection: we look at the rear shackle bracket, the rear leaf spring perches, the cab mounts, and the steel between the gas tank and the cab. We document with photos. If frame replacement is needed, we’ll quote it — though sometimes the right answer is “drive it as-is and don’t off-road heavy.”

Yes. Every Tacoma in our shop gets a frame check, especially 2005–2015 trucks. We document with photos. If the frame is sound but cosmetically rusted, that’s one outcome. If the frame is structurally compromised, we’ll tell you up front so you can plan accordingly.
1–2 business days. We replace the chain, tensioners, and guides with OEM Toyota parts. The 1GR-FE chain doesn’t have a fixed service interval — we replace it when it gets noisy on cold start (typically 150,000–200,000 miles). Pricing depends on year and trim.
We service Prius and other Toyota hybrid 12V batteries (the small one — these fail more often than people realize). For high-voltage traction battery service we work with specialty hybrid battery rebuilders for replacement; we handle the diagnostics, removal, and reinstallation.
Some 2010–2014 2AR-FE engines (Camry, RAV4, Scion tC) developed elevated oil consumption due to piston ring wear. Toyota issued a TSB and goodwill program for affected engines. We diagnose oil consumption with a measured run (1,000-mile burn rate), then advise — sometimes the right answer is a piston ring service, sometimes monitoring with shorter oil change intervals.
